Privacy Policy

This explains what data gymbuddy ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the iPhone app, and what we do with it. By using the app you agree to this policy.

What we collect

When you create an account and use the app, we collect:

• Your name, username, and profile photo, plus the email or Apple ID associated with Sign in with Apple.
• The workouts you post: type, optional duration, optional caption, optional photo, optional location (latitude/longitude and venue name), and the timestamp.
• The user IDs of friends you add or who add you, and reactions to posts.
• A device push token (FCM) used only to send the push notifications you've enabled.
• Crash reports and basic event logs to keep the app working. We don't use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

We don't collect your contacts (we read them on your phone only if you grant permission to find friends already on gymbuddy, and we never upload them), your health data, your purchase history, your browsing activity, or anything else outside the app.

What we do with it

We use your data to operate the app: show your workouts to your friends, deliver push notifications, find friends you choose to add, and prevent abuse. We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who can see it

gymbuddy is invite-only. By default only people you've added as friends can see your workouts, photos, captions, and locations. Your name and username are visible to other users who search for you. You can disable that in Settings → Privacy → "Appear in user search."

Where it's stored

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions) to host the backend. Firebase processes the data described above on our behalf under Google's standard terms.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → My Settings and Privacy → Delete account. That permanently removes your profile, your workouts, your photos, and your reactions within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Email support@gymbuddy.social to exercise any of these.

Children

gymbuddy isn't directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS/TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest via Firebase. No system is perfect, but we work hard to keep your data safe.

Changes

If we update this policy in a meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app. Continued use means you accept the new version.
